The Aftermath of Tour de Harrison

Well, our trip to Richmond, Va. was well worth the 20 hours in the car over the course of 3 days! The weekend was filled with amazing family ties, an educational scientist, delicious food and a 10-mile family bike ride through the quaint streets of Richmond.

The successful event included more than 200 patrons, 150 bike riders and100 burritos. We even raised more than $16,983 in donations...what more could you ask for?

This event was an eye-opening experience; the 3-day trip truly transformed my world. I came back to Woodstock, Ga. with a better understanding of life and how much it has to offer!

I'm looking forward to visiting the Strickler family again next Father's Day. If you did not have a chance to attend the annual event this year, go ahead and mark your calendar for June 20, 2010!

Venture to Tour de Harrison

Today I am packing up my car for the second annual Tour de Harrison ride in Richmond, Va. The event is taking place on Sunday, which is Father's Day, and will consist of a 10 mile bike ride to raise money for pediatric cancer research. All of the proceeds that are raised on Sunday will go straight to the Rally Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research.

The money is being granted to Dr. Adolfo Ferrando from Columbia University, whose research is on NOTCH1 genes and their effect on T-cell leukemia. Dr. Ferrando is flying to Richmond from New York to join and support the Strickler family on this exciting day!

I will update you on the turn-out of this event when I return to Atlanta next week!

Hailey The Rockstar

Today, I had the opportunity to visit Hailey Ann Trainer who is one of our amazing Rally kids over at Scotish Rite Hospital. Hailey is fighting AT/RT, a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer. She has endured 7 rounds of chemo and is now preparing for radiation therapy in Florida.

Hailey was a little sleepy, but still managed to crack a smile every once in a while. Hailey has the most piercing blue eyes, the minute she looks at you, she wheels you in and you are hooked for life.

Hailey is a true Rockstar and is an inspiration to me to keep pedaling those miles and to strive to reach my goal of raising money and awareness for childhood cancer research!

Hi Rally Community!

My name is Magan, I am this year's Rally Across America Team Leader. I am a recent college graduate on a new journey as a novice cyclist and event planner for the Rally Foundation.

I need everyone's support as I push myself to the max by biking across the nation to raise money for childhood cancer research. Starting in Washington, D.C. and ending in Martha's Vineyard, MA, my team and I hope to reach our goal of biking 1,000 miles and raising $75,000 in donations for childhood cancer research.

I am going on this expedition to show my family and friends the importance of coming together as one to help other people.

Making the News

Last Saturday, we got to do a ride with Jacque Berger. Her brother is a childhood cancer survivor, and she went to school with us at Vanderbilt. This summer she has been working with an online college network called Palestra.net - they do videos about issues that relate to college students, and she put together this piece for us ...
